Within HKA, HKA Tech focuses on enabling better project and program outcomes through data, digital solutions and advanced analytics.
We partner with clients across infrastructure, construction, energy and natural resource to improve project controls, optimise performance and unlock value from their data. Our approach combines deep domain expertise with modern technology platforms to support delivery of complex capital programs in dynamic and high-risk environments. As trusted advisors, we help organisations move from reactive reporting to proactive, data-driven decision-making – supporting successful outcomes across the full project lifecycle.
As part of the HKA team you can expect:
A strong collaborative culture focused on delivering tangible client outcomes.
Opportunities to work on major infrastructure and capital programs across the globe.
Exposure to cutting-edge tools, platforms, and methodologies in data, reporting, and project intelligence.
The ability to build strong technical and consulting skills within a globally recognised advisory firm.
The Opportunity:
HKA is seeking a Business Intelligence Specialist to join our growing data and technology team that supports digital solutions including PMWeb, a leading construction program and project management platform used on large, complex capital programs worldwide.
You will work closely with experienced BI Developers, Data Engineers, and Implementation Consultants to translate business and project management requirements into reliable database objects, reports, and dashboards.
This is a growth‑focused role with hybrid or fully remote flexibility. While your primary focus will be in the Asia Pacific region, you'll also support work across the Americas and Europe, the Middle East and South Africa, so flexibility in working hours is essential.
As you develop, you'll be expected to deepen your technical and consulting capability, advancing into more complex data engineering, systems integrations and/or Power BI development work aligned to your strengths.
Responsibilities:
Working as part of a collaborative delivery team, responsibilities include:
Designing, building, and maintaining SSRS and PowerBI reports against PMWeb SQL Server databases, enabling effective monitoring of cost, schedule and project performance.
Developing and optimising SQL database objects (views, stored procedures, functions, triggers) to support reporting, workflows and integrated project systems.
Supporting the delivery of digital project management solutions, ensuring data accuracy, consistency and alignment with client reporting frameworks.
Collaborating with implementation consultants and client stakeholders to capture requirements, troubleshoot issues and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
Building consultancy skills through regular client interactions in understanding their requirements, pain points and suggesting appropriate solutions.
Managing assigned tasks independently over time, including effort estimation, delivery planning, and quality assurance.
Contributing to solution design discussions, with a focus on data architecture, performance optimisation and scalability across complex program environments.
Adhering to HKA Tech standards for development, documentation and deployment across multiple client environments.
As your experience increases, the role may expand into one or more of the following areas:
Data Integration & Automation: Enabling data flows between PMWeb and enterprise systems (ERP, scheduling tools, document management systems) using SQL, PowerShell and APIs.
Data Engineering & Platforms: Supporting development of data warehouses, semantic models, and modern data platforms (including Microsoft Fabric and Azure ecosystems).
Power BI & Advanced Analytics: Delivering interactive dashboards and insights that drive decision-making for project teams, program leadership and executives.
Digital Program Delivery: Supporting broader HKA Tech offerings across digital project management, reporting frameworks and performance analytics.
Digital Transformation Advisory: Supporting HKA-Tech digital transformation service offerings through consulting, system assessments and Audits.
Skills and Experience:
Ideally you will possess the following skills and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
Strong working knowledge of SQL; including joins, aggregations, subqueries, and an understanding of relational database design principles.
Exposure to SSRS, Power BI, PowerShell and/or Python.
Basic understanding of system implementation lifecycle
Ability and willingness to learn new technologies, tools and client environments in a consulting setting.
Ability and willingness to engage with clients to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
Well-developed organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities across concurrent engagements.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high‑quality work.
Ability to take guidance while progressively working more independently.
Familiarity with project management concepts (cost, schedule, risk, reporting) or construction/engineering environments is advantageous.
