The Opportunity:
As an Associate Director, you will take on a visible and influential role in leading significant commissions, ensuring excellent client outcomes, and supporting the growth of our business. You will work closely with senior leaders to deliver technically robust, commercially sound and timely work, while fostering a high‑quality experience for clients and colleagues alike.
You will play a key role in the success of our projects by:
Leading end‑to‑end delivery of commissions, independently shaping, managing and completing assignments to the highest standards.
Driving commercial, quality and client outcomes, ensuring every commission meets HKA’s expectations for delivery excellence.
Managing, coaching and developing junior team members, helping to build a strong pipeline of talent and capability across the business.
Owning and strengthening client relationships, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor, and identifying opportunities to introduce wider HKA services.
Supporting business development efforts, contributing to bids and proposals, attending professional events, and acting as a brand ambassador through the quality of your work and professional presence.
Identifying and mitigating commercial risks, supporting budgeting, monitoring commission performance and contributing to strong financial management.
Experts only (where applicable):
Serving as a testifying expert in your specialist area, providing clarity on complex matters and helping foster strong relationships with clients and legal teams.
Skills & Experience
We’re looking for an experienced and commercially aware Associate Director who brings:
A relevant technical qualification (degree or equivalent) or higher‑education certificate, with the ability to obtain jurisdiction‑specific certifications where required.
A relevant postgraduate qualification (preferred).
10+ years’ experience in a similar role within the engineering and construction industry or related professional services environment.
Demonstrated experience identifying, developing and securing fee‑earning work.
Membership of a relevant professional body, with willingness to obtain any additional accreditations for service delivery.
Strong leadership capability, with a track record of developing teams and managing complex commissions.
Exceptional stakeholder management, communication and organisational skills.
A reputation for professional excellence, commercial awareness and collaborative working.
