HKA is a leading global consultancy in dispute resolution, expert witness services, and advisory. We are seeking an experienced Economist at Associate Director or Director level to join our team, contributing to the delivery of expert economic analysis in complex litigation and arbitration matters.
This role will be based in our newly established Oslo office, offering an exciting opportunity to be part of HKA’s growing presence in the Nordics. You’ll play a key role in shaping our local footprint while working on international disputes, collaborating with colleagues across EMEA and beyond. The Oslo office provides a dynamic, collaborative environment with access to global resources and expert teams, making it an ideal base for senior professionals looking to make a strategic impact.
The role:
At HKA, we help clients navigate complex disputes and deliver clarity in high-stakes situations. We are seeking a talented Economist at Associate Director/ Director level, supporting our leading expert witnesses on some of the most significant arbitration and litigation cases globally.

What you’ll be doing:
You will play a key role in supporting expert witnesses across a range of dispute and damages cases. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting economic and financial analysis to support expert reports in litigation and arbitration.
- Building and reviewing economic models to assess loss of profits, market dynamics, and regulatory impacts.
- Researching and interpreting economic data, industry trends, and policy developments relevant to disputes.
- Drafting clear, concise sections of expert reports and supporting documentation.
- Collaborating with experts, lawyers, and clients to understand case strategy and deliver robust, defensible analysis.
- Managing project timelines and deliverables, ensuring high-quality outputs under pressure.
- Supporting business development activities, including proposals and thought leadership.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for senior professionals with deep expertise in economic analysis and a strong track record in dispute-related work. You should have:
- Graduate or post-graduate degrees in Economics or a related discipline.
- Significant experience (typically 6+ years) in economic consulting, litigation support, or a related field.
- Proven ability to lead complex economic analysis and deliver high-quality outputs under pressure.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and intellectual rigour.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly.
- Scandinavian language skills.
- A collaborative leadership style and a commitment to mentoring and team development.
- Experience supporting expert witnesses or acting as an expert is highly desirable.
