The Opportunity:
At HKA, we empower professionals to shape their careers while making a meaningful impact. As a Managing Consultant in our Construction, Claims and Expert Services team, you’ll be part of our growing Madrid office, working on high-profile international disputes and collaborating with globally recognised experts across our International region.
This role is ideal for individuals with a solid foundation in quantum analysis and a desire to grow within a dispute resolution environment at a global consultancy. You’ll work closely with senior experts, contribute to the preparation of expert reports, and develop your skills in a fast-paced, intellectually stimulating setting. Fluency in English and Spanish and/or Portuguese is essential to support our diverse client base.
What you will be doing:
- Assisting in the preparation of expert reports and supporting documentation for arbitration and litigation.
- Conducting detailed quantum analysis and interpreting project data to support dispute narratives.
- Reviewing project records and identifying key contractual and commercial issues.
- Collaborating with senior consultants and expert witnesses on case strategy and delivery.
- Liaising with legal teams and client stakeholders to gather information and clarify requirements.
- Supporting internal initiatives including training, knowledge sharing, and business development.
What we are looking for:
We’re looking for motivated professionals who are eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a high-performing team.
- A degree in quantity surveying or a construction-related discipline; additional legal qualifications are a plus.
- Experience in international contracting, ideally within infrastructure, energy, or major projects.
- Exposure to dispute resolution processes such as adjudication, arbitration, or litigation is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex data..
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish and/or Portuguese.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Word; familiarity with data analysis tools is beneficial.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- A passion for developing a career in dispute resolution.
