The Manager provides high-quality support services in construction claims, consulting, and litigation support.  In this position, you will be exposed to multiple projects from varying sectors of the construction field including civil/infrastructure, oil, and gas, industrial, building construction, etc. You will have the opportunity to work alongside other HKA consultants and senior leaders in the field.

The Manager will oversee the preparation of analysis of construction impacts such as delay, inefficiency, acceleration, differing site conditions, scope changes, etc., and will assist with the preparation of expert reports, expert testimony, and exhibits for trial or settlement negotiations.  Other tasks could include project monitoring and risk management services.  Additionally, the Manager will:

  • Provide excellent client service by providing timely communication with teams and clients and addressing needs appropriately.
  • Utilize good communication skills, both written and oral, to effectively identify and communicate information in all forums including negotiation, proposals, and presentations.
  • Exhibit a high level of professionalism by working with others to provide quality and risk management at the project level, providing high quality work product, and ensuring company initiatives and policies are adhered to.
  • Provide high-quality Job administration and management by managing single or multiple projects and all related facets, prioritizing and organizing team efforts around the project scope and objectives, and monitoring progress of work plan and budget, and surfacing issues in a timely fashion.
  • Monitoring and managing HKA’s billings and accounts receivable status as required on projects.
  • Promotes a culture of continuous learning, development, collaboration, and delivery.
  • Utilize excellent problem-solving skills by developing creative solutions and ideas to meet client’s needs, constructively challenging ideas of others, organizing analysis efforts into a systematic framework, integrating complex information and concepts into easily understood formats, and identifying critical issues.
  • Promotes teamwork by demonstrating leadership qualities and understanding different leadership styles when working with teams, by creating an open and encouraging environment for team members, developing plans to continuously improve team performance, and reviewing work performed by others.
  • Exhibits strong technical ability by efficiently using required software and technologies, learning new software applications, utilizing technology to improve processes and deliverables, determine what data to gather and the quantity based on work plan and analysis, generate options for gathering needed data, validating and ensuring the reliability of data collected, and analyzing data based on reasonable assumptions, factual information, and vision.
  • Support business development efforts by beginning to identify new sales opportunities.


  • Must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in construction management or related engineering field
  • Must have 5-10 years of prior experience in the construction or consulting industry
  • Possess strong problem solving and critical thinking skills, diligence, and a desire to learn
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and lead a team of individuals
  • Strong knowledge of Windows PC environment required
  • Experience and efficiency with excel required (power query, pivot tables, pivot charts, macros, etc)
  • Experience with project control scheduling software such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft project required
  • Basic knowledge or experience with schedule analyser programs such as Acumen Fuse or similar a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Knowledge or experience with construction contracting a plus
  • Construction budgeting, estimating, and cost accounting experience a plus
  • Significant travel to client sites or other HKA offices may be required
